Octopus! is a story about being murdered by your lover, getting lost in Mexico, finding a unicorn, a competitive quilter, Tracy Morgan, and exploring our connection with an alien. In other words, it’s a documentary about the octopus.
In this two-part series narrated by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, we explore our connection to one of the most intelligent and mysterious life forms on our planet.
Project I was brought on to support post production — including working with a graphics and animation house to create Doris, a handcrafted stop-motion Giant Pacific Octopus. Over a series of epic underwater sequences, Doris guides viewers through key stages of octopus life— from birth to adolescence, mating to death. (I learned a lot about octopus sperm packets!)
During my time on the project, I also started conversations about archival licensing, oversaw legal reviews, worked with our assistant editors to build out a remote editing workflow and generated deliverables.
