ELECTION 2012
Release: October 26, 2012

For the 2012 election, our Managing Editors and I produced a 20-page issue covering the Obama & Romney campaign. After months of brainstorming and debating, we landed on highlighting each candidate’s stance on seven top issues, the deciding factors, including the impact of social media, swing states to watch and the power of the Hispanic vote.

Knowing how busy our student body was, we strived for concise but information-packed pieces. We sought out an array of voices: experts, NYU students in New York to students abroad. Every story was rigorously fact-checked. I designed infographics with bold colors to help readers digest information quickly.

Besides news from the national stage, we also featured student activists on campus. We balanced our coverage with lighter content, including a portrait gallery of presidential pets! To drive online traffic, we also produced web-exclusive stories.

This issue was recognized by USA Today as a standout publication by a college newspaper.
